Building for the Future: Paterson Grain to construct a new Inland Export Terminal near Bowden, Alberta.

Paterson Grain is pleased to announce the building of a new inland export terminal near Bowden, Alberta, expanding Paterson’s footprint in central Alberta.  The facility is expected to begin accepting grain in 2017.

The new unit train loading facility, Paterson Grain’s fourth Inland Export Terminal in Alberta, will incorporate the most modern grain handling and storage concepts.  With storage capacity of over 55,000 metric tonnes, the new facility will utilize a highly efficient loop track system, loading 150 car unit trains in 7 hours.  As the first in the industry to utilize the loop track design in Canada, Paterson has been able to minimize train loading times, setting a new industry benchmark at its loop track sites.  The new facility will also feature a dual receiving area, allowing for efficient truck unloading.  These features are expected to result in quick turnaround times for off-farm deliveries.

“It will be a pleasure earning the trust of producers in Red Deer County and beyond” said Company President Andrew Paterson, “as we have done for the past 108 years across the Canadian prairies.”

Grain originating at the Bowden facility will be exported through Paterson’s Alliance Grain Terminal in the Port of Vancouver, British Columbia to destinations worldwide. Construction of the Bowden facility will begin immediately and will, when complete, provide customers with extremely convenient access off of Highway 2.
