Rebuild of Community Hall Now Called “Paterson Community Center”

June 14, 2018 (Bowden, AB) – The Bowden Community Hall has been a gathering place for the townspeople and rural residents of Bowden since it was moved piece by piece from the military base in 1948. Like many small community centers, the seven-decade old hall has since gone into disrepair and requires replacement to remain open. Paterson GlobalFoods (PGF) recognizes the important role that the hall plays in the Bowden region and is proud to support the community with a $100,000 donation.

The new 10,750 sq. ft. facility is located on 3.2 acres of land at the north end of Bowden with a total estimated cost of $1.5 million. The modern hall, complete with a commercial kitchen, will allow for milestone events such as graduations, weddings and funerals, trade shows, farmers markets, seasonal events, and minor hockey programs.

June 9, 2018 (Winnipeg, MB) – Paterson GlobalFoods (PGF) was the presenting sponsor for this year’s Challenge for Life Walk in support of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. This year, PGF’s company contribution totaled well over $130,000.  PGF has been a Challenge For Life sponsor since its inception in 2007 and has donated more than $700,000 over the past ten years.

“Paterson GlobalFoods is honored to be the presenting sponsor of this most important event since its inception, which brings so much hope to those suffering with this terrible disease,” said Andrew Paterson, President and CEO of Paterson GlobalFoods.

    Challenge for Life

Challenge for Life is a powerful annual event where hundreds of Manitobans come together to raise funds for a serious cause. Participants commit to raising $500 for CancerCare Manitoba while taking an active role in maintaining their physical health and reducing their personal cancer risks. Participants can “walk it” for 20 kilometers beginning and ending in Assiniboine Park or they can “work it” by taking part in 200 non-continuous minutes of aerobic workouts.

Since its inception in 2008, nearly $10 million has been raised. All proceeds stay in Manitoba to support prevention, early detection, state-of-the-art research, world-class treatment, and patient support at CancerCare Manitoba.

  • Paterson Grain to construct a new Inland Export Terminal near Bowden, Alberta

    PRESS RELEASE

    February 29, 2016

Building for the Future: Paterson Grain to construct a new Inland Export Terminal near Bowden, Alberta.

Paterson Grain is pleased to announce the building of a new inland export terminal near Bowden, Alberta, expanding Paterson’s footprint in central Alberta.  The facility is expected to begin accepting grain in 2017.

The new unit train loading facility, Paterson Grain’s fourth Inland Export Terminal in Alberta, will incorporate the most modern grain handling and storage concepts.  With storage capacity of over 55,000 metric tonnes, the new facility will utilize a highly efficient loop track system, loading 150 car unit trains in 7 hours.  As the first in the industry to utilize the loop track design in Canada, Paterson has been able to minimize train loading times, setting a new industry benchmark at its loop track sites.  The new facility will also feature a dual receiving area, allowing for efficient truck unloading.  These features are expected to result in quick turnaround times for off-farm deliveries.

“It will be a pleasure earning the trust of producers in Red Deer County and beyond” said Company President Andrew Paterson, “as we have done for the past 108 years across the Canadian prairies.”

Grain originating at the Bowden facility will be exported through Paterson’s Alliance Grain Terminal in the Port of Vancouver, British Columbia to destinations worldwide. Construction of the Bowden facility will begin immediately and will, when complete, provide customers with extremely convenient access off of Highway 2.
